I was intrigued by a new light beige-mauve shade at the Nordstrom website. But when I got it delivered, it turned out to be an apricot-beige shade! I decided to compare it with Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick 186 Sensible and other similar Chanel lipsticks. Let the battle begin!
The packaging is stunning and a time-saver: one click and your lipstick is out! I wonder if Chanel is going to make transparent cups for Allure lipsticks the way they did for Flash lipsticks?! That would be so practical!
- COLOR: Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick 185 Stillness is a light apricot-beige shade without shimmer. Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick 186 Sensible is slightly darker and more beige-brown with a hint of pink. 185 Stillness is more orange compared to 186 Sensible.
- TEXTURE: You do need a lip balm underneath both lipsticks, but 185 Stillness has more drying texture, almost like Allure Velvet lipsticks. Both lipsticks are long-lasting and fade out softly.
- PURPOSE: Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick 186 Sensible looks more natural on my lips. I can wear it for any occasion! Sometimes I add a little bit of Chanel Rouge Coco Flash Lipstick 90 Jour on top of 186 Sensible to create more intense color and a plumping effect. 185 Stillness is lighter and looks sexier on my lips. I would wear it to the night club with a smoky eye! It’s been a long time that I didn’t go to a night club though!)) So it’s not for every day. Please don’t assume that 185 Stillness is wrong for you. It’s a warmer shade, so it may look fabulous with warm skin undertones.
Here are my beauties! Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick 185 Stillness (on left) vs Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick 186 Sensible (on right).
How to read the swatches: 185 Stillness – one layer on the left and many layers on the right; 186 Sensible – one layer on the right and many layers on the left. As you can see, 186 Sensible is more intense brown-pink, but still very natural color.
In order to demonstrate the shades’ differences, I would like to compare Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick 185 Stillness and 186 Sensible with my favorite discontinued Chanel nude lipsticks: Chanel Rouge Coco 474 Daylight and Chanel Rouge Coco 61 Cheri.
Chanel Rouge Coco 474 Daylight is even more orange than 185 Stillness and it has some gold shimmer. On the other side, Chanel Rouge Coco 61 Cheri is pinker and cooler shade than 186 Sensible.
Wearing Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick 185 Stillness is not that easy, because of drying texture. I would recommend to exfoliate your lips and put some lip balm prior to applying it. If you really like the color, you can make it work by adding some beige or transparent lip gloss on top.
For this look, I used Chanel Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Quad 328 Blurry Mauve.
On the contrary, wearing Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick 186 Sensible is easy and fun! It glides easily without feathering and has some moisturizing effect! My verdict is: the winner is Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick 186 Sensible! If you wish to see more pictures and swatches of this shade, please click here.
For my second look, I also used Chanel Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Quad 328 Blurry Mauve. Which shade do you prefer?
