Today I discovered that my favorite type of Chanel lipstick – Chanel Rouge Coco Shine – is discontinued! I remember that Nordstrom sales person told me the same six months ago, but I didn’t believe her. I thought she is lying to sell me the product!))
Now I’m trying to find Chanel Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks on their website chanel.com – and it’s gone! My fellow makeup bloggers confirm: Chanel Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks were discontinued in February 2019 and replaced by Chanel Rouge Coco Flash lipsticks.
I was still in denial. What about Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Saks, Amazon, Ebay? Nordstrom and Saks don’t have it either! Bloomingdales have only two left. Amazon – only one and it’s already twice price than it used to be on Chanel website. No wonder! If someone creates a deficit, there will be people who would take advantage of it. I wonder if you can do business like that: buy all the popular shades from Chanel website and when it’s discontinued, sell it on Ebay and Amazon for a twice price?! I’ve seen rare shades listed on Ebay for enormous prices! I was wondering who buys those?
Ebay has some Chanel Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks, but beware of fake and expired Chanel lipsticks on Ebay. Please watch my video ‘How to Spot Fake and Expired Chanel lipsticks on Ebay‘.
I also noticed that iconic Chanel Levres Scintillantes Glossimer lip glosses and Chanel Rouge Coco Stylo lipsticks were discontinued as well! Frightened, I checked how many Chanel Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks I have… and turned out only four!
Why would you discontinue your top-selling product?! I’m sure, there are very smart people working at Chanel marketing department. They wouldn’t do anything to lower the sales… Other high-end makeup brands like Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Cle de Peau (which are trying to compete with Chanel) can’t afford to discontinue their popular products so fast!
That’s how it works: they wanna keep you desperate! You are not going to think twice before buying a Chanel lipstick when you know it’s ‘Limited Edition’ and very soon it’s going to be discontinued! The price of $38 plus tax is not even an issue anymore! Actually, I think $40 is not that expensive if you really use it and enjoy it! It’s better to have a few expensive lipsticks than a bag of junk drugstore lipsticks which you never use! The problem is: once you tried a real luxury, you wanna collect them all! Because each of them is so special… and discontinued of course!
