Chanel Ombre Première Laque Longwear Liquid Eyeshadows are part of 2020 Spring-Summer collection. Excited about a new product launch, I asked a Nordstrom professional makeup artist to apply all of them! He used a special blending brush (which is not coming with a product). First, he applied Chanel Ombre Première Laque 28 Desert Wind (shimmery grey shade) all over my lids and underneath my eyes. It looked dramatic, but it made me look tired.
From left to right: 26 Quartz Rose, 22 Rayon, 24 Rising Sun, 28 Desert Wind and 32 Vastness.
Then, I decided to try Chanel Ombre Première Laque 26 Quartz Rose – a cool-toned pink shade. The Nordstrom makeup artist applied it with an applicator that comes with the product. I asked him if it’s possible to apply it just with my finger. He said ‘yes’, but in that case, I gonna have to use makeup remover to clean my finger. Otherwise, it wouldn’t come out, because it’s a longlasting eyeshadow. I find that inconvenient because most of people just use their fingers to apply cream, liquid or even dry eyeshadows.
Also, the makeup artist explained to me that Chanel Ombre Première Laque Longwear Liquid Eyeshadows dry out very fast, so I have only 10 seconds to blend it the way I want. That is so stressful! I expected Chanel Ombre Première Laque 26 Quartz Rose to look refreshing, but I noticed that the product sets in the lines and makes my skin look older.
Chanel Ombre Première Laque 22 Rayon (light gold shade) looked even worse on me. Maybe the problem is the applicator? Maybe I have to apply it with my finger?
What about the shimmery light orange shade 24 Rising Sun? Usually, I use shimmery orange on my lids with black liquid eyeliner… No, Chanel Ombre Première Laque 24 Rising Sun didn’t look that great. My favorite shimmery orange is still from Yves Saint Laurent Couture Variation Palette – Nude.
My last hope was Chanel Ombre Première Laque 32 Vastness – a shimmery mauve shade. It looked OK applied all over my lids, but not to the point of paying $36. I have many similar colors.
I really tried hard to love this new product, but it didn’t work for me. Also, my eyes got sore from trying and removing so many liquid eyeshadows. I like Chanel cream eyeshadows’ light texture and refreshing effect. I expected Chanel Ombre Première Laque Longwear Liquid Eyeshadows to perform on the same level. But it didn’t happen. Plus, I think the application process is hard if you have only 10 seconds to fix it! Maybe Chanel Ombre Première Laque Longwear Liquid Eyeshadows doesn’t have to be so longlasting, so we can easily apply it with a finger? What do you think about this product? Did it work for you? Let me know in the comments, please.
